Polar Electro, the world leader in personal guidance for fitness, sport, and health, has unveiled a new partnership with the German premium audio brand Sennheiser.

Sennheiser’s all-new, fitness-focused MOMENTUM Sport earbuds will officially be Powered by Polar, offering wearers access to Polar’s suite of biosensing capabilities and enhanced guidance for fitness and wellbeing, all backed by industry-leading scientific insights.

These premium sports earbuds bring superb Sennheiser sound and cutting-edge fitness tech in one device, alongside both a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor that can each output critical data to guide the most efficient workouts.

For the first time ever in a non-Polar product, users will now be able to enjoy full access to Polar’s elite biosensing capabilities and data analytics ecosystem by using Polar Flow as a training App. This includes access to expert-tier performance tracking, training analytics, smart coaching, and voice guidance. In-ear performance biometrics are connected in real-time for instant insights during training and stored for enhanced post-training analysis in both the Polar Flow app and a desktop browser.

This way, Polar is bringing its high-accuracy sport performance measurement to a whole new generation of fitness warriors and is stepping up its commitment to empowering brand partners to do the same for their users.

“Polar is a legacy, pioneer player in the high-end sports watch market and a natural fit for our own customers, who value trust, heritage, and innovation backed by science. We’re delighted to be partnering with Polar to give our sports enthusiasts the guidance and insights they truly want” says Martin Grieder, GVP of Sonova Consumer Hearing.

Opening up the Polar ecosystem like never before

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in Polar’s emerging ‘Polar for Business’ offering, which kicked-off with a collaboration with Japanese timepiece brand Casio in February 2023.

With this release, Polar opens up its ecosystem even further, giving full access to MOMENTUM Sport users, with no need to purchase or own a Polar watch or device. On top of this, Sennheiser users also enjoy access to all-new features such as internal body temperature tracking, to better inform training sessions in a range of conditions. Meanwhile, those with a Polar Vantage V3 watch can now seamlessly integrate this with their Sennheiser earbuds to enjoy more comprehensive, in-depth guidance than ever.

For Polar, this represents a new, device-agnostic direction for their business offering, allowing customers to choose their own favorite brands and devices while still being able to benefit from the science-backed health insights and hyper-personalized guidance that Polar can offer. This way, brands can better enhance the user experience with the most accurate data algorithms and analytics on the market.

“We want to leverage our rich scientific background to help brands looking to empower their own users with unrivalled fitness and health guidance” says Sander Werring, CEO of Polar Electro.

“With the right brands that share our dedication to quality, we’re happy to partner up and ensure share our IP, our technology, and our ecosystem can empower their users to achieve their fitness ambitions”.

Design 1st Innovates with Calibre: A Next-Generation Fitness Wearable That Measures Breath Flow and Composition For Advanced Calorie Burn, Respiratory Performance, and Metabolic Tracking in Real-Time.

Design 1st, one of the most prolific full-service product design-engineering firms across North America, has codesigned Calibre, a precise breath tracking wearable and app that collects data from multiple gas sensors to measure the composition and flow of inhaled and exhaled air, allowing it to measure dozens of biometrics with remarkable accuracy, including real-time calorie burn rates, oxygen intake and nutrient usage by your body. Calibre was launched to a selection of “beta” users in May of 2022.

At a very early stage, Calibre Biometrics chose Design 1st as a design partner, after surveying major national design firms. Design 1st’s standout integrated design process mitigates unnecessary risks while getting clients to market quickly. The team has over 75 design awards and a depth of experience honed within Design 1st, and from tenures at top Fortune 500 companies.

“Design 1st ‘s creative, product design, and mechanical engineering services really stand out. They are a smart, experienced team, and their rapid prototyping and test capabilities played a major role in shaping our innovative device. Design 1st is also a one-stop shop, including supply chain access. This latter part is fairly complex, but they’re well connected to a system of manufacturers for prototyping and mass production, and their ability to bring all of this to the table really helped deliver the product we envisioned to market,” says Udi Meirav, Founder and CEO at Calibre.

A key challenge for the Design 1st team was to determine human acceptance of this wearable fitness tracker. They had to successfully develop a device that was comfortable to wear, aesthetically appealing and engineered for precision and long-term use, as well as efficient mass production. The result is the world’s first wearable that continually measures breath volume and composition, a significant departure from most wearable fitness trackers that primarily measure motion or heart rate.

“With Calibre, Design 1st had the opportunity to incorporate extensive early market and user research and continuous testing to successfully de-risk from possible design or engineering challenges down the road, given the uniqueness of the project. We’re excited to have partnered with Calibre Biometrics to deliver a wearable that’s truly the first of its kind,” says Kevin Bailey, President and CEO at Design 1st.

Technologically advanced and a paragon of human-focused design, Calibre packs a suite of gas and pressure sensors into a tiny, portable, wireless module that clips to a comfortable face piece allowing users to go anywhere and do anything, while tracking dozens of real-time metabolic & respiratory biometrics, measured up to fifty times per second. Activity agnostic, its tracking app collects real-time data on airflow composition and enables users to monitor daily activity effects on the body.

Olive selected five grand prize winners of the first-ever Hack for Health Loop Development Contest for cash prizes up to $10,000 and more

Olive, the automation company creating the Internet of Healthcare, today announced the winners of the first-ever Hack for Health Contest. In partnership with Rotera, Olive held the contest to encourage developers to build Loops (think apps in an app store) that will change the way healthcare employees work by improving efficiency, reducing the scope for errors and burnout, and enhancing productivity — all to optimize the patient experience.

Olive designed its Hack for Health contest to solve healthcare’s biggest problems through collaboration with the developer community. Participation is open to any individual developer, startup, health system, or enterprise technology company. Winning Loop submissions are published on Olive’s platform, giving developers full access to Olive’s growing payer-provider network.

While any developer who publishes a Loop on Olive’s platform receives 85% of the revenue generated from their Loop(s) once published, Hack for Health grand prize winners also receive tiered cash prizes up to $10,000, industry speaking engagement opportunities, a 60-minute pitch meeting with the Olive Ventures team, an Oculus Quest 2, YubiKey, and a 30″ curved monitor. Olive also provides opportunities for its employees to develop Loops as part of an internal contest with its own set of prizes.

“Olive created healthcare’s first true platform. We wanted to create an event that encouraged a wide range of developers to come build on it to grow our ecosystem of people working together to transform healthcare,” said Patrick Jones, Executive Vice President, Partnerships at Olive. “Our first-ever Hack for Health contest, in partnership with Rotera, was the perfect way to introduce developers of all sizes to Olive and create new solutions that will help change the way healthcare workers work.”

Olive selected the following five Loops as the grand prize winners based on their functionality, innovation, outcome improvement, and bettering of diversity, equity, and inclusion among underrepresented healthcare workers and patients:

  • AESOP Technologies with the RxPrime Loop and DxPrime Loop: These Loops identify potential wrong-drug errors like “look alike/sound alike” errors and “wrong click” errors, as well as missing and incorrect diagnoses codes. They also provide suggestions of diagnoses and medications based on comparing the patient’s chart to information mined from more than 3 billion patient visits.
  • CMEfy with the Instant Rounds by CMEfy Loop: This Loop helps practice administrators, clinician leaders and non-clinical staff instantly and seamlessly reward their clinicians with continuing medical education (CME) credits during key meetings, impromptu Instant Rounds and other day-to-day co-learning engagements.
  • Grief Coach with the Grief Coach Loop: This Loop supports clinicians who need to speak with grieving family members after a patient has died by providing them practical guidance on what to say and how to say it.
  • Medecipher with the Predictive Staffing Flexing Tool Loop: This Loop provides actionable staff scheduling decision insights for real-time operations using Medecipher’s AI-enabled predictive analytics and optimization model.
  • Amit S. with the Supply Chain Rx Inventory Loop & Clinical Trials REST API Loop: The Supply Chain Loop acts as an AI assistant to help users make quick and informed decisions on managing supply chain Rx inventory using predictive analytics. The Clinical Trials Loop acts as an AI assistant to help users make quick and informed decisions when searching for active studies on ClinicalTrial.gov API.

“Medecipher has been eager to develop on Olive’s platform, and Hack for Health provided us with a unique collaborative opportunity to do so! By leveraging Olive’s platform, we were able to quickly implement a clinician-facing decision support tool (our Loop) that provides critical operational insights from our models and algorithms,” said Stephanie Gravenor, co-Founder and CEO at Medecipher. “We’re honored to be named a winner of Olive’s first-ever Hack for Health contest with our Predictive Staffing Loop and look forward to continuing to refine our use case and leverage Olive to expand our impact.”

For developers interested in developing their own Loops, they can email developpartner@oliveai.com or submit their information at https://oliveai.com/about-us/partner-with-us.

Not only the youngsters but, the elderly are willing to take initiatives for their well-being and are tremendously using mobile health applications. Nowadays, people are not only proactive when it comes to health but also progressive.

The increasing number of smartphone users and the accessibility of the internet across the US is expected to drive the demand for this market in the forecast period

According to the CIA, the United States ranks 1 globally with 7000 Internet services providers. More than 90 percent of adults have access to the internet in the United States. With the increasing use of smartphones and the internet, people across the USA are more aware of the various mobile health applications available. This had led to a rapid expansion in the mobile health application market of the USA.

The outbreak of COVID-19 is anticipated to fuel the growth of this market

Covid 19 has surely been a growth driver for the mobile health application market in the USA. As the government announced different lockdowns, digital technology such as MHealth apps for consulting doctors is used widely. Also, fitness application companies are constantly innovating their apps.

Updated App Offers New Features and Content for the 1.6B People Struggling with Anemia

Today Sanguina, Inc. (Sanguina), a wellness and diagnostic company offering at-home hemoglobin testing and management tools, relaunched its signature, award-winning AnemoCheck Mobile App with an updated design, new capabilities, and additional content.

Anemia is a condition in which someone lacks enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to their body’s tissues. Iron deficiency anemia is a common form, and given that 70% of the body’s iron is found in hemoglobin, it’s important to keep levels in check to ensure the body has the resources it needs to function.

Anemia impacts over 1.6 billion people (25% of the world’s population), with women, pregnant women, seniors, vegetarians/vegans, and athletes being some of the most vulnerable groups. Traditional anemia testing requires time, access to a doctor or a lab, insurance, and needles.

With AnemoCheck Mobile, Sanguina brings hemoglobin level estimation directly into the consumer’s pocket. It’s the first smartphone app for completely non-invasive and instant hemoglobin estimation, which is provided through a fingernail selfie.

Users simply take a picture of their fingernails (unpolished), the app algorithm measures the paleness of the nail beds which correlates to hemoglobin levels, and they will have their estimate in seconds. Sanguina’s estimate is called “Iron Grade” which is a non-invasive hemoglobin estimate. Low hemoglobin levels may lead to fatigue, brittle hair and nails, and cold hands.

Users can estimate their levels from home and share their results with their physician or loved ones. Sanguina prioritizes privacy, and all results are confidential unless shared by the user.

Originally launched in 2020, the app has been re-designed to enhance user interface, onboarding, and experience.

Updates include:

  • Algorithms reading more user data for more accurate results: With an expanded data set, Sanguina is able to provide a more precise read and product for its consumers. Data is private and isn’t sold or publicly available anywhere.
  • Updated branding and an enhanced consumer experience: Sanguina updated the app look and feel, including the UX and UI, to be ADA-compliant, which means those with disabilities, such as color blindness, can better interact with the platform. The app also gives more instructions for users to help them get an accurate read.
  • New features, including a symptoms, mood, and supplement tracker: This tracker helps users to be more informed about how their hemoglobin levels can impact their body’s entire ecosystem. By tracking their symptoms and mood, AnemoCheck Mobile can make suggestions that might be helpful to a user, with a physician’s oversight of course.

Coming in 2022:

  • Educational content and FAQ: The app’s overall language is playful and educational to make learning about anemia as approachable as possible. It includes curated content on how and when to use AnemoCheck Mobile, how your diet and supplements impact your health, and even season-focused tips on anemia management during different times of the year.

Sanguina’s CEO and Co-Founder, Erika Tyburski, has had anemia since childhood, so the company’s roots and mission directly address the needs of those with anemia and provide accessible management tools.

“Growing up, I frequently passed out in school and was taken to the emergency room – just to learn that my hemoglobin levels were low. Throughout my life, I craved a solution that would give me the flexibility and insight needed to prevent this from happening over and over again. This laid the foundation for Sanguina,” says Tyburski. “Although Sanguina’s AnemoCheck Mobile should never be used to replace a physician or to make a diagnosis, it allows users to take affordable, instant, proactive, and accessible action toward bettering their health wherever, whenever. On a broader scale, we want to offer AnemoCheck Mobile to people outside of the U.S. like in Southeast Asia and Africa, where many may have Wi-Fi access but don’t have medical support within their communities. Because our technology is accessible, we have the potential to make a significant impact to improve the quality of life in global populations.”

Partnership enables Revival Health to scale U.S. domestic manufacturing capabilities of COVID-19 Rapid Tests to 15-20 million units per month, making it one of the largest domestic producers of rapid testing.

Revival Health Inc. (Revival) and Quanta Computer today announced a strategic partnership to enable U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities of millions of rapid tests for both COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) and blood biomarker tests.

This partnership will leverage Revival’s rapid testing platform LumiNow® and unique, end-to-end healthcare ecosystem—Move 78®, with Quanta’s manufacturing and robotics operational expertise.

Revival’s rapid test platform, LumiNow®, enables easy-to-use, lab-free, 20-minute antigen testing for COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).  Early testing indicates excellent sensitivity in the order of cycle-time (CT) 31 which could lead to the identification of asymptomatic persons.  The LumiNow® digital lateral flow test (LFT) and innovative spectral sensor delivers a unique combination of sensitivity, at-home use, and low cost.  LumiNow® delivers:

  • High Accuracy and Sensitivity – Innovative LFT combined with spectral sensing –quantitative verification is done by C-reactive protein (CRP) testing to concentrations as low as tens of pg./ml, which is a factor of 10x more sensitive than standard rapid-test read-out devices.
  • Easy-to-use – No user interpretation – results via Bluetooth to a smartphone app – video app guidance.
  • Secure – LumiNow® platform processes data in a secure medical cloud – IEC-62304 compliance, regulatory instances (CE, FDA, TGA, CFDA) and GDPR and HIPAA standards.
  • Rapid, At-home Results – 20-minute results on mobile device from the comfort of your home.

“Our goal is to be largest and most automated manufacturer of lateral flows assays in the United States. Our partnership with Quanta makes that a reality,” states Vice President, Brandon Wu.

Quanta Computer, a Global Fortune 500 Company and one of the world’s leading notebook manufacturers with capabilities in cloud computing, enterprise network solutions, mobile communications products, smart home, autotronics, IoT, AI and healthcare; brings its global production capabilities and operational innovations to the partnership.  With over 10 million square feet of manufacturing and operations across Asia, North America, Europe and South-East Asia; world-class R&D capabilities; and flexible EMS, ODM, OEM, JDM business models; Quanta provides unparalleled scalability and expertise for Revival to become a leader in “Made in America” testing capabilities.  “Quanta is excited to bring our best-in-class manufacturing capabilities to this partnership with Revival Health, to help increase Covid-19 testing supply and contribute towards mitigating the impact of this pandemic,” states Vice President, Frank Chuang.
