AIC will also be signing an MOU with Phison Electronics, integrating high-performance servers with Phison’s “aiDAPTIV+” modules to significantly lower AI model fine-tuning costs and enhance generative AI accessibility. Additionally, AIC will be partnering with H3 Platform to offer cutting-edge CXL composable infrastructure, optimizing device allocation and management to meet the demands of low-latency, high-bandwidth AI applications.

Hardware Security Module (HSM) Applications: AIC will also present the TB116-DL at COMPUTEX 2024, showcasing its powerful integration with NVIDIA’s BlueField-3 DPU and Qrypt’s quantum secure encryption platform. The TB116-DL is a FIPS 140-3 compliant network security appliance equipped with tamper proof labels and intrusion detection switches, making it ideal for sectors such as finance, military, and government that demand elite and multilayered security. This integration harnesses NVIDIA’s BlueField-3 DPU to accelerate network and security functions, enhancing system throughput and reducing latency, while Qrypt’s encryption software employs quantum-generated entropy to deliver top-tier, quantum-safe security. When integrated, these technologies forge a scalable, layered security architecture adept at mitigating both present and future cyber threats, making the TB116-DL the ideal solution for applications demanding rigorous security compliance and superior data integrity.

Getac today announced the launch of its brand-new AI-ready S510 rugged laptop, enabling organisations across industries such as utilities, public safety, manufacturing and automotive to utilise the power of edge AI on a daily basis.

An AI-ready device that’s built for enhanced productivity

The new S510 enables workers to capitalise on the significant productivity benefits of AI-based applications. An Intel® CoreTM Ultra 5/7 processor with Intel® AI Boost and Intel® Graphics put powerful performance at users’ fingertips, while a dedicated Microsoft Copilot key quickly awakens AI capabilities whenever needed.

The S510 combines this innovative feature set with MIL-STD-810H and IP53 certifications, alongside 3ft (0.9m) drop and vibration resistance, giving users the peace of mind they need to work with confidence. The S510 also boasts a 15.6-inch display with 1,000 nits of brightness and Getac sunlight readable technology for optimal versatility in a variety of light conditions. In addition, the device provides robust connectivity options including WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 as standard, with optional 4G-LTE and 5G Sub-6 capabilities to keep users connected.

Despite its large screen and rugged credentials, the S510 weighs just 2.35kg (5.18lbs) for easy carrying, while its hot-swappable battery capability supports full-shift operation. Its sustainable design also embodies Getac’s commitment to environmental responsibility, with a significant proportion of its chassis comprising of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials.

The S510 can be configured based on individual customer needs, with options including dual Thunderbolt 4 ports for faster data transfer, up to 64GB DDR5 (8GB as standard) and up to 2TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage (256GB as standard). Further options include a laser barcode reader, DVD super multi drive, second storage drive, and/or NVIDIA GPU.

The S510’s powerful specification and rugged credentials make it the ideal hardware platform for a diverse range of AI-based applications. For example, public safety professionals can minimise ambient background noise when conducting interviews and taking witness statements, improving recording clarity. The latest version of Akka enables enterprises to quickly and easily build mission-critical systems while minimizing risk and expanding the definition of high-performance distributed systems

Lightbend, inventors of the Akka distributed application platform, today announced the latest version of Akka, version 24.05. This latest version delivers new functionality across multiple categories, including performance, security, compliance, ecosystem support, and additional edge computing capabilities. New features include support for Zero Trust compliance support, database sharding, Java 21 support, and Rust support.

“As security, performance, and ecosystem support demand continue to evolve, Akka is innovating to meet these new market realities,” said Jonas Bonér, Lightbend co-founder and CTO. “That includes a continued focus on security and compliance, particularly in the wake of open source vulnerabilities such as the recent issue associated with xz utils. More and more of our enterprise customers are prioritizing this as threats continue to emerge and new regulations are implemented globally.”

Akka provides a singular programming model that eliminates the high latency, large footprint, and complexity barriers current Cloud and Edge architectures pose for development teams wanting to build highly distributed multi-cloud applications. As a result, businesses can harness, distribute, and fully utilize their vast amounts of intelligent data to improve their operations, regardless of where that data is generated. For version 24.05, there are four primary categories of enhancements:

  • Security and Compliance via Zero Trust Certification – As new regulations and security issues with Open Source Software (OSS) continue to proliferate, Lightbend ensures its platform meets industry security and regulatory compliance standards. Specifically, Lightbend and Akka have been audited and attested to be SOC 2 and NIST SF 800 compliant. In addition, Lightbend continues to invest in Akka security by offering guidelines on how users can attest to their Akka distributed applications being ZeroTrust compliant.
  • Performance – Database Sharding enables near-infinite horizontal scale out of database persistence, eliminating the cost of using a high-performance, centralized database. This reduces the overall cost for a mission-critical system but streamlines the architecture and reduces the operational burden on IT.
  • Enhanced Edge Computing Capabilities – Capability with the Rust programming language, which is extremely prolific for Edge use cases, enables Akka services to be deployed on devices with minimal footprint and compute requirements.
  • Support for Java 21 – Akka 24.05 is now certified to support Java 21, which vastly improves conciseness and lowers the risk of mistakes for developers.
