The annual report marks company’s first report based on new corporate sustainability roadmap
Assent Inc. (Assent), a leader in supply chain sustainability management, has released its 2023 sustainability report detailing recent achievements in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. Assent helps manufacturers bring responsible products to the world with innovative supply chain sustainability management solutions, and has applied the same mindset to the organization’s own sustainability programs. Through these efforts, Assent has become a Certified B Corp, the third-party certification for businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility, and is an active participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
The 2023 Corporate Sustainability Report is Assent’s first to be grounded in the company’s new Corporate Sustainability Roadmap, a forward-looking strategy for advancing the company’s sustainability innovation and leadership efforts. The roadmap categorizes ESG progress across four strategic areas: Planet, People, Customers and Principles.
Assent’s 2023 Sustainability Report highlights include:
- Planet: Developed a climate action plan that outlines quarterly milestones to guide environmental efforts. Plan includes measuring energy savings across office locations and working with local property management to utilize renewable energy sources, further aligning operations with sustainability goals.
- People: Prioritized leadership diversity by promoting 26.17% of Assentees in 2023 and demonstrated a commitment to gender equality and leadership diversity within the organization with a 1:1 ratio of people leaders for men to women.
- Customers: Generated a social return on investment (SROI) action plan that allows us to create measurable social, environmental, and economic value for our customers and ensures priority impact areas are communicated effectively to the market.
- Principles: Commenced a Human Rights and Ethics Due Diligence process to ensure ongoing measurement and progress on critical issues.
“ESG is not a trend, it’s a business-critical competitive differentiator,” said Andrew Waitman, CEO, Assent. “Our 2023 report serves as both evidence of our own progress and a signal of the journey ahead. With our Corporate Sustainability Roadmap, we are charting a path to innovation, leadership, and rigorous sustainability practices—not just for Assent but for our entire ecosystem of customers and partners.”
2023 was a significant year for Assent as heightened regulatory pressures required manufacturers to increase transparency into supply chain sustainability and regulatory compliance practices. Notably, Assent launched its PFAS solution to help manufacturers collect data from supplier networks and take corrective actions to reduce or eliminate the heavily regulated “forever chemicals” from parts, products and processes. Assent’s Supply Chain Sustainability Platform serves as the universal source of truth for data, allowing manufacturers to mitigate financial, operational and reputational risks tied to regulations like The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
“Data collection and benchmarking are key elements for any successful ESG or supply chain sustainability program,” said Cally Edgren, Senior Director of Sustainability, Assent. “We have developed initiatives that guide our commitment to ESG success and are documenting our progress toward that goal each year just as we enable our customers in their sustainability journey.”
